The night sky sans stars. - The Mystique

The night sky sans stars.

Looking out of the window, she was lost in a sea of memories, vaguely able to recollect her ground. She was a dandelion drifting away to timeless reminiscences that had been succumbed to the recent debris of her life. Occasionally her mouth would curl to a smile and the next minute her pursed lips trying hard to stop those well of tears in the depths of her eyes. Every time a tear drop dared to cross its boundaries, she would quietly murmur to herself, "Stay put! hold on."

She had never imagined that her days would be so long without that much awaited 3 hour phone call that would leave her smiling for the whole day. It now seemed funny how she would dig her face into the pillow whenever the message said,"Sunshine." The slight annoying mentions of the mosquitoes in her room, the moth that was freaking her out were now orphaned and screamed for importance and attention. But she knew they had to be inaudible for quite some time. It had been years that she felt her heart race, her stomach lunge and goosebumps transpire on her arms. There wasn't a day that went by when she didn't miss all of that. But, she couldn't change that. Not anytime soon at least. Her mistakes were now going unnoticed. She loved it when she was being corrected, in all those attempts to make her a better person (not that she wasn't one already!). She was now adrift of her surroundings, a sly smile adorned her face.

Amidst all the sorrow that made her life feel like a turbulent sea, she was anchored to just one word, HOPE. There were a thousand instances when she wanted to let go. Tired of fighting the pain, tired of holding back the tears. Life was giving her a thousand reasons to give up but she believed in that one gut instinct to hold on and hope that next morning every thing would just turn out fine.

"Aren't you tired of waiting for him? Don't you see that the night is stripped off the stars?", yelled her rather concerned friend tired of seeing her friend's wait cross days, weeks and years of sky gazing in vain.

"Nope. The star's got to be home. There can't forever be a night sky sans stars nor my forever without him." said she with the first tear drop that was let gone after ages with a glimmering smile.

She was right. The star had to come home. Her wait did end and her life blossomed in all the colors of fall, winter, spring and summer.

No matter how difficult it gets, how hard life kicks you, believe in the only fact that one day, everything will turn out to be fine. Realize the fact that distance is never a matter of concern for people whom you love because your love is seamless, boundless and forever. It might get difficult in the beginning, I get it. But would you crib about the pain that is pricking you constantly or embrace the countless moments that you have made with your significant other? You might want to quit a billion times, tired of faking the smile, tired of mustering up all your energy to pull your wagon through another insignificant day. But, hold on, because it's not forever that

The night sky is sans stars.
